The main characters are Jeremy Marsh age 42 who grew up in New York with his Irish father and Italian mother.  His job is working as a writer.  His best friend is Alvin Bernstein.    Jeremy traveled to Boone Creek,  North Carolina  to investigate a mystery of ghostly lights in a cemetery for the magazine “Scientific American.”  He meets a small town librarian and fell in love and her name is Lexie.

Lexie  Marin Darnell is 32 years old who majored in English.  She lives in Boone Creek, North Carolina.  Her best from  college is Susan.  Lexie has no living relatives because her parents were killed in an auto accident, when she was a young child.  She was raised by her maternal grandparents.  Doris is her grandmother who raised Lexie and she owns a restaurant and has psychic abilities.
